Full Moon Morning Tea Cookies

Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons Full Moon Morning tea, finely ground
(grind loose leaf in a spice grinder or use a mortar & pestle for a tea dust texture)
1/4 teaspoon salt
Zest of 1 orange (optional but delightful)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

1. Prep the Tea: Finely grind your Full Moon Morning tea leaves until they resemble a powder. This helps the tea infuse evenly into the cookie dough.
2. Make the Dough: In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the vanilla and orange zest. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, ground tea, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
3. Chill the Dough: Roll the dough into a log (for slice-and-bake) or press it into a disc (for rolling and cutting). Wrap in parchment or plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour.
4. Bake the Cookies: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
For slice-and-bake: Slice 1/4-inch thick rounds.
For cut-outs: Roll dough to 1/4-inch thick and cut shapes. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake 10–12 minutes, until edges are just golden.
5. Cool & Enjoy: Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Serve with—you guessed it—a cup of Full Moon Morning tea.
6. Optional Glaze: Whisk 1/2 cup powdered sugar with 1–2 tablespoons fresh orange juice. Drizzle over cooled cookies for a little extra zing.
